Day 7-- DEPARTURE

DAY 7—Saturday, July 16, 2022: DEPARTURE

We woke early the next morning and scurried about stripping the beds, placing bedding in a laundry bag, sweeping and mopping the floors, cleaning the kitchen and bath, and consolidating the trash etc.

Elanor asked if I would like my suitcase carried up to Cabin #1. Yes, indeed. So she lugged the wheeled suitcase (I fondly call it The Purple Hippo) up the stairs and then pulled it the rest of the way uphill and to the waiting van. Thank you Elanor!

Then we all piled into the van and were off for the trip back to the St. George Airport. The trip took nearly four hours. Earlier, Eileen had planned on taking me to lunch in thanks for my lift back to her Hampton Inn. At first I thought I would accept her offer but  was suddenly overcome with “horse to barn” syndrome so thanked her but told her that I would drop her at the Hampton but then wanted to head for home.

At the airport, Jeanie, who had been planning on joining the two of us for lunch, also bailed and decided to wait at the airport for her 6:00 pm flight back to Denver. So, I went to get the car and get on the road. It cost $47.00 to park in the lot for the duration.

When I pulled into the loading zone before the airport, I found that my cabinmates, the Harts, had already departed (they had rented a car and were planning on visiting Zion and other of the attractions in the area), so I never got to say goodbye to them. Eileen and I did say goodbye to Jeanie, however, and then I drove Eileen to the Hampton. There was a gas station right next door to the Inn, so I filled the tank, which was three-quarters empty for a mere $57.45.

I then drove an interesting, peaceful drive west of I-15 and Utah Lake to Sandy.
